The responsibility of educators is to supply the missing fundamental in the field of education—the knowledge and experience of consciousness.

In the main points of his second lecture in the book Maharishi Speaks to Educators, Maharishi speaks to Japanese educators in Tokyo saying that the Science of Creative Intelligence provides the missing fundamental of education, the study and experience of consciousness, the inner intelligence or Self of the student, and thereby brings fulfillment to the goals of education.

There has been a universal lack throughout the world in the field of education, Maharishi said, for nowhere today do we see an ideal society, and no system of education has produced an educated individual—one who is always right and evolutionary, who does not make mistakes or create problems for himself or others.

Now that we are supplying the missing fundamental of education, the study of consciousness, a changed value of time—the Age of Enlightenment, Heaven on Earth—is dawning, Maharishi said.

‘It is the experience of teachers that students can comprehend only from their level of consciousness.

Everything that is taught in education is relevant to life, but the basis on which knowledge is received— consciousness, the common basis of all disciplines—is not taught. ‘Psychology tells us that man uses only five to ten per cent of his mental potential, but now psychologists have found that through the Transcendental Meditation Programme, one can develop one’s full mental potential and act from that level of unbounded awareness, from where the thought force is most powerful.

‘The effects of Transcendental Meditation have been measured by scientific research, and the principles of modern science have been found to be parallel to the principles that govern the expansion of consciousness during Transcendental Meditation.

‘This had led to the Science of Creative Intelligence, which shows how Creative Intelligence unfolds itself fully, and how the mental potential of the individual can be developed in a systematic and scientific manner…. Transcendental Consciousness, unbounded awareness, is the state of perfect orderliness, the source of all thought and action, Maharishi said. 'It is the home of all the laws of Nature from where all the laws of Nature start to function. By stabilizing this field in one’s awareness, all one’s actions are orderly and supported by all the laws of Nature.'

Maharishi continued: ‘When thought is projected from the level of Transcendental Consciousness, the field of all possibilities, one gains the ability to fulfil all one’s desires. No wrong desires can arise because Nature works only in the evolutionary direction.

‘Through education we can create a new generation of youth whose every action will be in accordance with all the laws of Nature and who will not mistakes.’
