Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M.) graduate designs fortune-creating buildings Amy Greenfield, daughter of Francie and Doug Greenfield, was born and raised in Fairfield and attended Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment, Maharishi University of Management, and Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Connecticut before she received her B.F.A. from M.U.M. in 2004. “I really appreciate that M.U.M. focuses on developing the students’ potential, while other schools only overload you with information,” says Amy. Amy first worked as a children’s book illustrator, but she soon followed in her father’s footsteps in real estate development. However, she wasn’t new to the world of building. In the early 90’s, Amy's father, Doug Greenfield, set up Maharishi Global Construction in Vlodrop, Holland, under the guidance of Maharishi and Dr. Eike Hartmann. In 2005 Amy co-created Greenfield Properties with her father; then Doug retired in 2007, leaving his daughters in charge. Amy became one of the first developers to blend sustainable technology with Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design. Her first major project was organizing the reconstruction of the residential development on the M.U.M. campus to include 15 homes, which were built according to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design using all natural building materials. Amy's other projects, featured at the Abundance Ecovillage, incorporate green building features such as solar hot water systems, recycled materials, and passive solar design. Amy designs some of the buildings, acts as general contractor, oversees construction, and generates marketing. She doesn’t seem to be overwhelmed by the wide range of her daily tasks. “The TM technique helps me focus and deal with obstacles, which is essential in my business,” she says. © Copyright 2008 Maharishi University of Management
