New alumni website to benefit MUM graduates

The Maharishi University of Management Alumni Association launched a new website with a variety of features including social networking, job search, and alumni card discounts. The Alumni Association Board of Directors developed the content and worked alongside project manager, Gabe Krechmer.

“The purpose of the website is to help alumni connect in the most modern way with each other and to connect back to the University in a meaningful way,” said Anna-Maria Cornell, executive director of Alumni Relations. “The theme for the website is ‘let us be together.’ One of the founding principals of the association is the principle of giving. Our goal is to give our graduates opportunities they will enjoy.”

One of the benefits of joining the Alumni Association is the alumni card which provides members with campus discounts as well as access to a nationwide discount program over the Internet. The card and registration are free to MUM graduates. The association hopes to expand the discount program to other Fairfield vendors.

Another feature of the Alumni Association site is the Lotus Job Network (LJN) currently being developed by Leslee Goldstein, president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and Dr. Rachel Goodman, director of the MUM Office of Career Strategies, in conjunction with the Fairfield/Maharishi Vedic City Ideal Community Group.

The goal of the job network is to help current MUM students, alumni, and all practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation program become more successful professionally. Users can post resumes and jobs, share their expertise, and network with each other. “We are especially pleased that LJN and the Alumni Association website will include additional resources and workshops to help job seekers advance their careers and help employers develop their businesses,” said Ms. Goldstein.

The website also serves as a portal for sharing events and news relating to alumni. “We want to be able to communicate with alumni all over the world and bring the MUM/MIU experience of community and friendship back to them virtually,” said Matthew Kendz, director of Alumni Outreach.

Mr. Kendz and Ms. Cornell also plan to travel around the country to visit alumni. Another goal of the Alumni Association is to offer special content only available through the website where members can take advantage of the unique knowledge MUM has to offer.
