Owen Blake grew up in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, and attended Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment for grades 8-12. Although several universities offered him basketball scholarships, he decided to enroll at Maharishi University of Management (MUM) and continue with Consciousness-Based education. He graduated with a BA in media and communications in 2012 and then stayed at MUM to work in Admissions for a year.

In 2013 Owen began thinking about what made him happy and what career he could pursue to increase his happiness. He scored and ranked all his options, and becoming a teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique became his top choice. After that, it was smooth sailing and he soon started theTranscendental Meditation Teacher Training Course. Then he taught the TM technique in San Diego with his mother and established a new TM center in the area.

A year later he was invited to teach the TM technique in a charter school in Brooklyn, New York. He was not only the Quiet Time program site leader for the school, but he also coached the basketball team, acted as a teacher’s aide in various classes, and assisted with field trips.

After a successful year at the charter school, he returned to MUM. ”I decided I wanted to be able to give more, and in order to do that I needed to improve who I was, so I decided to do the MA in Maharishi Vedic Science program,” said Owen. “It has been amazing so far. I have grown so much already.” After graduating, he would like to pursue his PhD in Maharishi Vedic Science and teach at Maharishi School, MUM, or the Maharishi Invincibility Institute in South Africa, which he has visited several times.

“Owen brings out the best in every person and in every situation because he’s super intelligent, thoughtful, funny, and kind,” said Dr. Thomas Egenes, professor of Maharishi Vedic Science. “I believe Owen is destined to have a huge positive impact on the world.”

Owen has always had multiple interests—from performing and recording music, playing and coaching team sports, to enjoying video games with his friends. He is currently working on a project to introduce the TM technique to the video game industry, specifically into e-sports.

“Video gaming has become a very big industry, twice as big as the film industry worldwide,” he said. “Professional gamers don’t know about good routines, but they are so competitive. The benefits of TM would be very noticeable, and they could easily share their experience with their thousands of fans.”
