Skateboarding became Zarosh Eggleston’s passion at about age 13. ‘I just got so obsessed with it and fell in love with it,’ he says. ‘I would find a skateboard at the flea market and I would fall in love with it. It was so [much] fun.’

Just as he was getting good at his hobby and had ‘the desire to really do it,’ something new came into Zarosh’s life. He learned Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation Technique.

‘That’s how life began,’ the skateboarder reflects. ‘When I started meditating, everything started happening.’

Happy changes ‘overnight’

Zarosh enjoyed deep experiences in his meditation and noticed, ‘I’m really happy and I can smile. I can actually feel that radiance. Just that first time, just going into that zone. I didn’t really know about that—I was like “whoa”. It was so cool.’

At this point, ‘Everything just started formulating,’ Zarosh notes, referring to how he suddenly found himself a professional skateboarder.

Zarosh remembers skating in Monterey, California. He went into a skate shop and, to his surprise, saw a photo of himself in Thrasher magazine. ‘How did that happen?’ he wondered. Next was an interview about him and, following that, he was called and hooked up with a shoe company. ‘All of a sudden, I was a skateboarder for a living and I was getting paid. It was like overnight. After I started meditating, everything started happening.’

‘The missing link’

Thinking deeply about his practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique, Zarosh says, ‘When you’re meditating, you’re actually influencing the universe. I really feel that. You can feel it. When I’m meditating—not when I’m in zone but just when you’re putting that 20 minutes in— I have this feeling that’s the most important thing I could be doing right then.’

‘It made every single thing in my life better. No doubt,’ Zarosh says. The skateboarder remembers back to when he learned about Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation, ‘Transcendental Meditation they told me was going to make all areas of my life improve.’ Thinking about his situation he goes on, ‘Let’s see—skating got better, my relationship with my family got better, I got along with people better, eating probably got better for me. Everything.’

Zarosh sees the Transcendental Meditation Technique as ‘the secret to life. I’ve got this power’, he says. ‘I can do anything. It really felt like that was what was missing from man’s life. Meditation is just the missing link to me.’

Thinking about his overall goal, Zarosh goes on, ‘Reaching full human potential—I guess that kind of became my goal after I started meditating. For me—I’m gonna do that. I’m on my way there. Four years later, I’m on the road to that. So many things have manifested that I’ve wanted to do. It’s all happening right now. It’s amazing.’

Expressing what he sees clearly from his experience, Zarosh expresses firmly. ‘’Meditating everyday, that’s the secret weapon. That’s just your tool.’
