Continuing education hours for nurses who learn TM
by Amy Ruff at Transcendental Meditation for Women online

As a nurse, I am aware that every health practitioner should be continually educated about new techniques and knowledge that will improve our performance and care of patients. For this reason, continuing education is an important and justifiable requirement for most health professionals.

Just in time to celebrate the New Year, the American Holistic Nurses Association has approved education "contact hours" for nurses for taking the course of instruction in the Transcendental Meditation technique (at a special discounted medical professionals fee) from a certified TM teacher in any state except California and Iowa.

I believe that this is a great leap forward in AHNA offerings to enhance a practitioner's capacity. Most education hours involve gaining more clinical knowledge or skill, but learning the TM technique will unfold the practitioner's mental and physical potential enabling her to expand her skill set and comprehension more easily. It will increase intelligence, creativity, focus, energy, good health and stamina while reducing fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression. As health professionals, we can feel secure in the knowledge that all of these benefits are verified by extensive, published, peer-reviewed research.

Because health professionals are under enormous pressure--sometimes dealing with life and death decisions and procedures--their careers are both rewarding and stressful.

The AHNA communicated their approval as follows:

"Transcendental Meditation for Nurses: Developing capacity for improved judgment, decision making and resilience under stress. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the American Nurses Association (AHNA), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation."

Congratulations to all of my sister nurses and other practitioners who will now be able to enjoy the benefits of TM practice in their lives while earning continuing education hours. The TM Program for Women is offering this course at a special discounted fee in appreciation of your dedication to caring for others.
