In his book, The Science of Being and Art of Living, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi unfolds the secret of how to make use of the almighty power of Nature. Maharishi explains that everyone has within himself the infinite potential of Nature.

In life, we may feel bound by time, space and causation; and yet inside, many students and adults also feel an inner spark of genius and creative potentiality. While sitting in a classroom or at a desk studying reams of information about science, history and the disciplines of modern education, perhaps the thought arises, ‘Isn’t there more to my life than this? Are my studies just preparing me to be a servant to my job or future career? Isn’t there something more I can do with my life to unfold my full potential and infinite creativity, and to bring lasting inner happiness?’

Everyone can access the power that runs the universe
Maharishi explains that everyone has within himself the infinite potential of energy and intelligence which runs the universe. In actuality, every individual is Cosmic.

Maharishi points out that ‘the boundaries of individual life actually touch the unlimited horizon of eternal life… Individual life has the ability of fathoming the unlimited field of Cosmic Life and of deriving the maximum from the absolute power of Being.’

How is it possible to tap the reservoir of infinite creativity within? As described in Parts One and Two of this article, (see June archives) ‘Being’ is unbounded, Bliss Consciousness—experienced at the source of thought— during the practice of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation Technique. Maharishi describes this field of bliss and unmanifest silence within as ‘the ultimate reality of all that was, is, or will be. It is eternal and unbounded, the basis of all the phenomenal existence of Cosmic Life. It is the source of all time, space, and causation.’

The infinite organizing power of Nature ‘becomes the charioteer’
In Maharishi’s Vedic Science, Maharishi explains in detail how the silent field of unbounded Cosmic Intelligence, one’s own Self—or consciousness—moves within itself, giving rise to all creation. According to descriptions in the Vedic Literature, this field of one’s Self is the home of all the Laws of Nature which create and administer the whole, ever-expanding universe.

This Vedic description of life was directly experienced by Vedic Rishis within their own silent awareness. These Rishis experienced the silent, unbounded field of their own consciousness rising in waves, expressing the dynamism of the primordial sounds of all creation. They experienced the Self as the underlying foundation of all thought and physical existence.

The Rishis described their ability to access this field of Cosmic Creative Intelligence for spontaneous success in life in the verse from Rk Veda:

‘Yatinam brahma bhavati sarati

(Rk Veda, 1.158.6): For those who are established in the singularity of fully awake, self-referral consciousness, Cosmic Creative Intelligence—the infinite organizing power of Natural Law—becomes the charioteer of all activity’

Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation Technique
It is not necessary to be a Vedic Rishi to tap the intelligence and organizing power of Nature and make use of it in daily life for greater success and well-being. Maharishi has shown that we simply need to bring our attention to experience our own Self, the Unified Field of consciousness—which is the home of all the Laws of Nature. Through attention, we can enliven the totality of Natural Law to work for us. Natural Law begins to support our thoughts and actions in a natural, spontaneous way.

During the practice of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation Technique and an advanced programme, the TM-Sidhi programme, including Yogic Flying, individuals access this eternal basis of all Natural Law and make use of it in daily life. This simple experience is the key to raising life above suffering and unfavourable circumstances.

Looking more deeply into the secret of using the almighty power of Nature, Maharishi explains that in order to gain its support, we must put ourself completely in the hands of that almighty power. For example, a son of a millionaire shows willingness to obey his father if he wishes to use his father’s status, strength and influence.

Maharishi explains that the power of Nature is all-powerful and all loving. To gain the support of this all powerful, all loving Nature, we must simply bring our awareness to it. This cannot be accomplished through positive thinking or through mood making. Although positive thinking is more beneficial than negative thinking, it does not enable us to access the almighty power of Nature. Instead, this is accomplished through a simple innocent procedure—Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation Technique.

During the practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique one directly experiences the source of thought, one’s own Being. This is the state of natural surrender to the almighty power of Nature. Maharishi explains:

‘Here is a technique to surrender oneself to the almighty power of Nature and arrive at the absolute, eternal field of Divine Intelligence. Having arrived at that plane, one begins to enjoy the almighty power of Nature quite automatically for great good to himself.’

One cannot make a mood of surrendering to that almighty power of Nature. The Transcendental Meditation Technique is not on the level of thinking or feeling or mood making; it is on the level of Being. One has to transcend thinking and feeling and experience that state of Being. Through one’s direct experience of Being, the almighty power of Nature works for one.

Individuals who practise Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation Programme and the advanced technique, the TM-Sidhi Programme—including Yogic Flying—report that their lives flow smoothly, without obstacles. If challenges occur, they experience the support of the environment to overcome these difficulties. The stability, intelligence and bliss of the almighty power of Nature pervade the field of action and achievement, bringing maximum success.

In order to harness the almighty power of Nature for society, Maharishi has also employed the technique of Transcendental Meditation and the TM-Sidhi Programme for the betterment of entire nations. Now through the group practice of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme, entire nations are rising to enjoy success and invincibility. (See Part 6 of this article.)
