'Your Excellencies, Members of the Board of Trustees, faculty, students, and honoured guests, I want to begin by telling you how excited I am to be speaking here, today, in the presence of all my friends and family and of the all the people who have become so dear to me over the course of my education at Maharishi University of Management and, also, to celebrate with all of you this glorious occasion, in which so many years of dedication to learning have finally reached fulfilment. After today, many of the students who stand before me now, will enter into a completely new phase of life in which all the fruits of their labour will come to bear and they will finally have the chance to begin to shape the life that they have been envisioning for themselves all these years.
It is with great joy, then, that I deliver this message to my fellow graduates to live fullness of life, bringing them back to core of Maharishi’s teaching once more before they set forth on the paths that they have chosen for themselves.
If you take with you one lesson from your education here, let it be to always remember your source in pure consciousness. And if you focus on one task, throughout your life, let it be to know that by which everything is known—to know the Unified Field of Consciousness which is the true nature of everyone and everything—to know yourself. And finally, if you enjoy the glory of one great success in your lifetime, let it be to achieve mastery over total natural law—to realize life as it is lived on the level of Yatinam Brahma Bhavati Sarathih: For those established in self-referral consciousness, Brahma, the Creator—the infinite organizing power of natural law—becomes the charioteer of all action.
We, as graduates of Maharishi University of Management, have the great fortune of having received the master key, as Maharishi would call it, to the treasure trove of our Self and all the glories that it contains. You know, when I first sat down to write this speech, my aim was completely different. I wanted to talk all about action, and achieving greatness in life. But then, I received a manuscript of Maharishi’s message to a previous valedictorian and his graduating class.
In it, Maharishi beautifully lays out the secret of how to live powerfully—of which great deeds are only the by-product. After I read the message, I realized I was putting the cart before the horse—no one would turn down greatness, if he were given the opportunity. The secret, then, was how—by what means—could greatness be repeatedly and dependably achieved.
Does everyone want to hear the secret? Long programme. That means extended practice of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programme, allowing your mind to become more and more saturated with pure consciousness. As a result, your thought will become so supported by Natural Law that you’ll be able to fulfil your aspirations merely by desiring for them.
Urging us to spend our time wisely, Maharishi said, ‘don’t waste your time in social work; don't waste your time in society here and there. Use your time in being more and more at home with your Self. And that is the secret of all success in any career of life. One thing well done, and then everything will be well achieved. That is your Self. Your Self’. Thus, when we have become completely at home with our Self, when we have gained total facility with functioning from the level of Self-referral Consciousness, then we will have the power to achieve anything by mere thinking.
Maharishi said that no matter what it is that you want, simply take your thought to its source in Transcendental Consciousness, and consciously promote the thought from there. Then, Maharishi says, ‘you’ll be engaging [the] infinite creative intelligence of Natural Law to work for you’. It’s just like archery—if you want to aim high, you must draw the string all the way back. Then you’ll be utilizing the full strength of the bow and your arrow will fly fast and true. So it is in life—as long as you draw your thought back to its source, it will always powerfully flow towards fulfilment and your most ambitious of desires will be quickly and easily achieved. Thus it is recorded in the texts of Kalp:
One word properly known and properly used is enough for all achievement on earth and in heaven. So be vigilant in your practice—be vigilant in your maintenance of Atma and, soon, there will be nothing that you cannot have.
Maharishi:
‘So the management graduates of the Maharishi University of Management, just get on to that which you have studied. Supreme importance is in the field of your own Self-referral consciousness, Self-referral consciousness. Use it in your life and you'll manage big, huge things’.
