One of the key elements in bringing Maharishi's programmes to the continent of Africa is the great inspiration and focus of the local organizers. In many countries of Africa this is being done by Meditators and experts in Yogic Flying who are working vigorously to introduce Maharishi's programmes to all levels of society.

Africa: Unity and invincibility

On the Continent of Africa, in Ghana, with a population of 2.5 million, teaching of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation has begun in five schools. Teachers of Transcendental Meditation from Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa have come to Ghana to assist in teaching the students, who are quite rapt and eager to learn to meditate. In each of the schools a core of the faculty and staff have been instructed who will be leading the group practice of Transcendental Meditation. 

We are very pleased with the generous support coming from the David Lynch Foundation in the USA to help fund many of these projects. Also, Maharishi University of World Peace founded in Geneva, Switzerland, an international center for diplomacy and development, is lending its help and inspiration in organizing for our projects in Africa. 

In Nigeria, with a population of 132 million, local teachers and meditators are working to bring Maharishi's Consciousness-Based Education into colleges and schools. 

A presentation was recently made to the leadership of one of the largest universities in the country. Attending were the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Deans of many of the Colleges—Arts, Sciences, Communications and Management—as well as the Head of Planning and other top administrative staff. 

This university with 40,000 students is now planning to host a full-day seminar to over 1,000 participants on Maharishi Consciousness-Based Education as the key to creating individual enlightenment and national invincibility. So we will be looking forward to seeing how that group begins to rise to create invincibility for the nation. 

In addition, the Management Boards of high schools in the Lagos area are being contacted to offer Maharishi Consciousness-Based Education. The schools are out of session now, but we are working with the administration so that programmes can begin in the Fall Semester. 

We have the project of creating also our own Maharishi Invincibility School. The plans are there now in Nigeria, in Ghana and in other countries where we can create our own schools of eighty students throughout the city. We are now identifying land here in Nigeria—and in Ghana and Kenya—for these groups of students who, as part of their school day, will be the real core for upholding an integrated national consciousness—Invincibility—for their nation.

What will be very helpful would be a rapid expansion of the [Transcendental Meditation] Movement in this continent. Africa has almost one billion people with fifty-three nations, but currently only a very small number of Yogic Flyers. 

Following the success and inspiration of the Teacher Training Course held in Thailand last year in the Domain of Dr Vikaram, Raja of Vedic Siam, and the current Teacher Training Course in Latin America, it is a pleasure to announce a course for African countries to be held in the Drakenburg's Mountains in South Africa, a place of great silence and beauty. 

We are now inviting the Yogic Flyers and Meditators of the African countries to come forward and take on this profession of the Teacher of Transcendental Meditation—a Teacher of Invincibility that will transform the world. 

This course will be for English-speaking countries and we already have interest from five countries—Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and South Africa. A separate course for French-speaking countries of Africa is in the planning stage at another location that we will be announcing soon. 

The course for the English-language countries will start in about one month. The participants need time to notify their employers that now they are going to take on a new profession as Founders of Invincibility for the nation. This is going to be their focus in life now and that is a status at the very highest level of society. There can be no greater role to play in the nation than to be a Founder of Invincibility. 

It is just a great joy to see the beautiful blossoming of Total Knowledge of Natural Law and purity in all the cultures of the world. We are seeing this rise of personal enlightenment and national Invincibility throughout our entire global family—the Light of God dawning throughout the entire world. 

With great gratitude on behalf of all of the people of all cultures we want to express our deep love and appreciation to Maharishi and to his beloved Master—Shri Guru Dev, His Divinity Swami Brahmanand Saraswati, Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, Himalayas—for the blessing of the supreme gift Vedic Science that is now creating unity and invincibility in the world family to realize the ideal of Vausdhaiva Kutumbakam (The whole world is my family) and a heavenly life of peace and plenty for very generation to come.
