Princess Amanda Bola Adesida-Peterson, director of Consciousness-Based Education for Ladies in Nigeria, reported on the most recent developments and successes in her nation during a special live global broadcast on 19 July 2007. Her presentation was part of the 'Global Celebration of Consciousness-Based Education for Mothers in Every Generation', which was featured during the commencement ceremonies of Maharishi University of Enlightenment.
Following is a transcript of Princess Amanda Bola Adesida-Peterson's presentation:
'My name is Princess Amanda Bola Adesida-Peterson, and I have been in Radio and Television Broadcasting since 1967. Today, I am speaking to you from Nigeria, the 9th largest country in the world.
'Although not yet a Teacher of Transcendental Meditation, I have been enthusiastically introducing this knowledge to universities, Traditional Kings, Diplomats, respectable businessmen and women, as well as government leaders since 1998, with the firm intention of facilitating the popularization of all the programmes of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Nigeria.
'We are two ladies in this effort and commitment now, but we hope to soon have many more working with us in Nigeria.
'In order to create a group of 1,136 Yogic Flyers, the required number for our population of 129 million, we have done a lot of work, notably with the Vice Chancellor and top administrators of a large university, which has a student population of 60,000.
'They were very impressed and as a result of that momentum, I am now planning a huge public lecture on Consciousness-Based Education for July/August. 3,000-5,000 students, faculty members, parents, and invited guests are expected to attend.
'I am working very hard with the Lady Administrators of the university to establish a centre for Consciousness-Based Education.
'Last year, I met several times with representatives of the National Universities Commission in our efforts to get the license to establish the university. Only yesterday I attended a five-hour meeting with the Traditional King in a state near Lagos, concerning the plan to donate land for the university.
'Mother is held in great esteem throughout Africa and proper education for girls is very much needed. The Consciousness-Based Education programme for Mothers in Every Generation, which develops the nourishing quality of ladies, will fulfill this need in a most appropriate way. I am particularly eager to start a Vedic University and School for ladies.
'Jai Guru Dev*.'
