Total Knowledge-Based Education to develop enlightenment in every student

During the First International Congress of the Global Mother Divine organization, held in Maharishi Nagar, Vedic City, USA, one of the Raj Rajeshwaris—Mothers of the World from the Sovereign Domain of Consciousness— gave the first presentation on the theme, 'Knowledge and Practical Application of Our Programmes in Education', speaking on the role of Consciousness-Based Education—Vedic Education—in developing enlightenment in every student through the awakening of Total Knowledge within her own Self.

Following is the text of the Raj Rajeshwari's presentation.

'In opening our presentation of the area of Education today—one of the five Areas of Knowledge of the Global Mother Divine organization—I would like to lead us back to the fundamental level of education—the field of pure consciousness, the Self of everyone.

'When we were starting Mother Divine's university, Maharishi University of Enlightenment—which will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on 19 January—we posed the question: What is the scope of this university? The answer to that question was: The scope of the university is Atma. And that is really the scope of all of Vedic Education—Consciousness-Based Education.

'The scope of Consciousness-Based Education is Atma and in Atma we find the total range of life, from infinity to point. Even as we pronounce the word Atma, which means the Self, we locate infinity in A—the mouth opens fully and there are no boundaries to the sound. A is the sound of infinity. At-ma. When we pronounce ma the mouth closes—infinity collapses to a point. But immediately the mouth opens again—ma; immediately the point expands again to infinity. In this back and forth between A and ma, which is constantly going on in the Self of everyone as fully-awake consciousness knows itself, there is a faint, unmanifest friction, or rubbing, and the sound of that rubbing is the Veda—pure knowledge, the Laws of Nature—the Constitution of the Universe, the blueprint of creation. In this we find dynamism, diversity, in the one silent unified field of the Self.

'And Veda, the Constitution of the Universe, which we have located within our Self—as Veda becomes more and more expressed, it becomes first our human physiology, which in its structure and function, is an exact expression of Veda, and then the entire universe. The Sanskrit word for world, or universe, is Vishwa. Now Atma has recognized the entire range of the infinite multiplicity of the universe within itself. That fullness of silence with all possibilities lively within it is called Brahm.

'The same one Wholeness is expressed as different fullnesses. ''From fullness fullness comes out.'' So here we see three steps in the unfoldment of Wholeness within the Self of everyone.

- from Atma, the silent Self we experience in Transcendental Consciousness, to Veda, the sound of silence moving within itself, knowing itself; and

- from Veda to Vishwa, the entire universe; and

- from Vishwa to Brahm, the fully awake field of silence with all possible dynamism lively within it, the state of Unity Consciousness. Now all knowledge—Total Knowledge—is fully awake in the Self of the student.

'This is the journey we take when we rise to full Enlightenment—when we rise to the realization that ''I am everything'', which is expressed in the Vedic Literature as Aham Brahmasmi, I am Totality.

'And how does Enlightenment unfold? Through the simple daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme, including group practice of Yogic Flying. These Technologies of Consciousness are a part of the daily routine in all Consciousness-Based schools. The English word ''Education'' comes from the Latin root ''educare'', which means to lead out, to draw out. And the Sanskrit word for education is Shiksha—the unfolding quality of intelligence.

'So Enlightenment unfolds in a very natural, systematic way. When the student sits down and begins to transcend using the technique of Transcendental Meditation, her awareness opens to her own Atma, and then, day by day, through continued practice of Transcendental Meditation and through its advanced techniques, gradually and very naturally Atma becomes more and more fully awake. Enlightenment grows in the Self of the student. The student owns Total Knowledge in herself. And when Total Knowledge—total Veda—total Natural Law—is lively in the student's own consciousness, then learning any expressed value of knowledge becomes a joy. All knowledge is now just a wave in the ocean of her own Being. Everything is familiar to her. She is experiencing the beautiful process of Consciousness-Based Education—knowing everything by simply being. Knowing by Being.'

The Raj Rajeshwari also discussed the sharp contrast between this ideal system of education and the present state of education, which continues the centuries-old tradition of fragmented education, in which knowledge is 'broken up into pieces' and the student never sees or experiences the wholeness of knowledge; and as students progress through the curriculum, knowledge becomes more and more specific until at the PhD level they study one very specialized field. Coming back to the field of Total Knowledge, The Raj Rajeshwari continued,

'So it does not take long in Vedic Education—in Consciousness-Based Education—to gain the fulfilment of having Total Knowledge. And when Total Knowledge—total Veda—is lively in the awareness of the student, then—since human physiology is made of Veda—human physiology—and especially the brain physiology—is fully awake. The student experiences total brain functioning. And this has been measured by EEG.' In fact, she explained, some Consciousness-Based institutions issue EEG report cards.

'One of the features of Vedic Education—Consciousness-Based Education—is that Total Knowledge is gained in a short time. When Total Knowledge is there right from the beginning of education, education becomes so fulfilling to the student. Parents watch their children blossoming more and more every day, enjoying so much happiness, so much curiosity to know more and more. No strain. No struggle to learn. No fear of the pressure of trying to learn. The student feels confident that she can know anything and achieve anything.

'What we have found in running the Ideal Girls' School that we had with Mother Divine for a number of years, and now with Maharishi University of Enlightenment, is that the mothers and future mothers of the world—ladies and girls—have different desires and aspirations. Some want to have a family of their own, some like to own the whole world as their family by joining the Mother Divine Programme—but everyone who has the slightest inkling that Enlightenment exists, wants Enlightenment. Everyone wants the automation of fulfilling her desires that comes with having all possibilities lively within her own Self. And even those who have not yet heard about the possibility of gaining Enlightenment in human life really do want it, because there has been so much struggling in life in Kali Yuga [age of ignorance], when life was cut off from its source. Nobody knew Atma— everyone has been constantly searching for more and more—for something that will be the master key to fulfilment in life.

'Now this is the education—Consciousness-Based Education—that provides that Master Key. This education is the education of Sat Yuga, where everyone will live in Enlightenment. Those nations that have not yet offered much education to the girls—and there are many in the developing world—in a way it is a fortunate thing— because now ideal education is available—education that will allow the nourishing quality that is natural to all girls and ladies to blossom—education that allows girls to blossom in their Dharma.* Now that education is available in the world, and they can have it right from the start.

'So we know this education will ''sell like hotcakes''. We want to start Consciousness-Based—Enlightenment-Based—universities, colleges, and schools for the ladies and girls in every country and also introduce this Total Knowledge-Based Education to all the existing schools. Whether these universities are like Mother Divine's university, Maharishi University of Enlightenment, where the students are members of the Mother Divine Programme and can devote all their time to floating in the unfoldment of Atma to Brahm and exploring its fine mechanics through the fascinating study of Maharishi Vedic Science, or schools where the students come only for a number of hours in the day and have the joy and nourishment—the refreshment—of practising the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme including Yogic Flying as part of the daily routine of the school day—they will all rise to Enlightenment and bless every nation of the world with Invincibility.

'Already we have lady Education Directors in at least 30 or 40 or 50 countries, who are working to establish these schools and introduce Consciousness-Based Education to the existing schools. Now, with the establishment of the Advisory Board and Foundation of Total Knowledge-Based Education for Mothers of Every Generation in every country, we want to have ladies in all 192 countries making these schools for girls and ladies a living reality. And fortunately all the materials have been prepared.'

The Raj Rajeshwari concluded her speech by introducing a member of the Global Mother Divine organization to present the new Consciousness-Based Education structure as well as the wealth of curriculum materials that have been prepared for the ladies who would like to implement it in every country.
