Over 100 Ethiopian students are enrolled at Maharishi University of Management, Fairfield, Iowa, USA, in the Computer Professionals programme.
This programme combines study in the University's highly successful Masters in Computer Science (MSCS) with practical training at US companies. All the students in this programme have work experience in their field. This is a very selective programme, based on high academic performance along with professional references.
The students learn the most effective and well-documented technique for personal development, the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and enjoy clearer thinking, more energy, and many other benefits. They also have the opportunity to learn the advanced TM-Sidhi Programme to further enhance their development.
As part of this programme, practical training is offered by many top companies. Google, IBM, Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, General Electric, Cisco, AT&T, and Bank of America are among the more than 700 US companies who have hired students from this Computer Professionals programme for high-paying practical training positions. Over 100 of Maharishi University of Management students and graduates work at Microsoft. In the past six months alone, more than 70 companies have hired these students.
Yirga Mulat from Ethiopia is currently enjoying practical training at Microsoft. His experience in this distinctive programme at Maharishi University of Management has been excellent. He expressed his gratitude to this special programme saying, ‘Thank you for what you did while I was on campus. You gave me all the courage that I needed to be successful in my career. I am now in a good position and I have the confidence to try anything. The way you treat students contributes a lot to their success.’
In September the Ethiopian students hosted a celebration of the Ethiopian millennium — 2000 years of a rich, diverse country of 80 different ethnic groups. The students prepared tasty Ethiopian treats, offered an authentic all-African fashion show, a cultural video presentation, and a live performance of cultural dances and music. Afterward everyone was invited to dance to the best music of Ethiopia and Africa.
‘It was really such a great moment that the Ethiopian students had with the Maharishi University of Management community,’ said student Beruk Dikasso. ‘The celebration was ideal in sharing Ethiopian culture, food, and music with the community.’
