Almost 30 years ago, Maharishi spoke at a special assembly on 'The Role of Education in Making the Nation Invincible', held in Seelisberg, Switzerland in March 1978. The main points of this talk are presented in Maharishi’s book Maharishi Speaks to Students: Mastery over Natural
Law.
At this assembly, Maharishi said that an educated man is
an enlightened man. In the dawning time of Heaven on
Earth, educators will use the most advanced educational
technique, Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and
TM-Sidhi Programme, to fully culture the awareness of
the student to the state enlightenment.
'In the state of enlightenment, consciousness—the
container of knowledge—is unbounded, and in that
infinite expansion, the student finds infinite freedom,'
Maharishi said. The pure consciousness experienced in
Transcendental Meditation is parallel to the Unified Field
of Natural Law, the unmanifest source of creation,
discovered by the most modern quantum physics.
‘The enlightened student experiences his awareness as
the home of all knowledge and the home of all the Laws
of Nature that structure the whole of creation,’
Maharishi explained. When pure consciousness, the
home of all the Laws of Nature, is established in his
awareness, the student spontaneously ceases to violate
the Laws of Nature. All struggle and suffering cease.
'When the student's awareness is established in the
home of all knowledge,' Maharishi continued, 'he is at
home with everything and enjoys the benefit of all
knowledge even when he has not mastered all branches
of learning individually. Pure consciousness is the knower, the foundation of all knowledge. Through the practice of Transcendental Meditation, the foundation of education, which is knowledge of the knower, is realized.'
Maharishi then explained that 'knowledge is structured in
consciousness. For complete knowledge one must have
fully developed consciousness. Transcendental Meditation
and the TM-Sidhi Programme develop the full potential
of consciousness so that the student can absorb and
comprehend the full range of knowledge from manifest
to unmanifest.'
In the TM-Sidhi Programme, one enlivens the silent field of consciousness, which Maharishi explained ‘is a field of all possibilities. When one thinks from this level, any thought automatically manifests.
'Researching into his own consciousness as a field of all
possibilities, the student finds he can create anything;
from that level, any desired result can be achieved. Full
mastery of the TM-Sidhi Programme results in authority
over Nature,' Maharishi said.
'Pure consciousness is also a field of infinite correlation,'
Maharishi continued. 'An impulse in that unbounded
consciousness instantaneously nourishes Nature
everywhere and stimulates the growth of orderliness
in collective consciousness. Increased coherence in
collective consciousness disallows the birth of an
enemy and structures invincibility for the nation.'
The growth of higher states of consciousness in
every student leads to ideal behaviour and more
ideal relationships with others. Time now demands
enlightenment and national invincibility structured
on the basis of enlightened individuals.
'As wise and responsible people, educators and
students will respond to this demand to create
enlightened individuals and an invincible nation,'
Maharishi said.
