Developing deep and comprehensive thinking in every student for fulfilling progress

In his address to the American Secondary Educators’ Conference held in Buffalo, New York, in November of 1973, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi said that the strength of education lies in its being progressive. Educators should be able to culture fulfilling progress in their students.

Maharishi points out in this talk, which is the third lecture in the collection published in a pocket book series for educators, Maharishi Speaks to Educators: Mastery over Natural Law, that although progress in science and technology has been rapid, ‘still the goal of progress, fulfilment in all areas of life, has not yet been reached.’

‘Education should produce individuals who are able to keep pace with progress and bring greater achievement and fulfilment to every step of progress,’ Maharishi said. It is thus very important that today’s innovative education does not disturb the basic traditional values of education. ‘The growing minds of students need to be protected and given a proper direction.’

Innovative education arose when education lacked a means to culture the thinking of the youth to be orderly, progressive, useful, and fulfilling. This is because education has lacked the knowledge and study of intelligence itself, and the means to unfold the full potential of the mind, the holistic, total functioning of the brain.

Maharishi then says that the Science of Creative Intelligence provides every student with the means to experience the source of Creative Intelligence within, from where all the streams of creativity arise. This develops the infinite value of creativity in every student, creating individuals capable of fulfilling their own goals while upholding the progress of the whole society.
