In chapter five of his book Enlightenment and Invincibility, entitled 'The Role of Education: Education for Invincibility—Consciousness, the Prime Mover of Life', Maharishi explains that the problems of education are not restricted to the classroom or to young people.
'Anywhere, if a person is not able to handle life, it is a problem of education. If the person is ill, he is not properly educated to remain healthy. If he quarrels or commits crime, he is not properly educated to be harmonious and law-abiding.
'Because man's inner creativity is infinite he feels cramped when he cannot fulfil his natural urge to create more and more. That is the seed of stress. The cramp comes from routine work. But there is no way out of routine work because there are limitations everywhere in all fields of human activity.
'The conflict arises because inner man is unbounded. Through Transcendental Meditation the individual directly experiences and realizes his unbounded nature. By transcending morning and evening he neutralizes the rigidity born of routine work and the seed of stress is now allowed to grow.
'Transcending, therefore, is a vital necessity of everyday life, whatever one's age or occupation.'
