The conference, "The Fifth Annual Countering IEDs: Assessing the IED Threat and its Evolution on the Battlefield and in the Homeland," was sponsored by Marcus Evans Defense.
IED stands for "Improvised Explosive Device," which includes homemade land mines. IEDs have been responsible for at least two-thirds of U.S. and coalition deaths in the global war on terrorism.
Dr. Leffler's topic was "Invincible Defense Technology as a Means to Prevent the Implementation of IEDs." He explained that Invincible Defense technology—which entails group practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi® programs -- is the best strategy because it prevents enemies from arising. "No enemies, no IEDs," he said. He presented peer-reviewed research, including a study that shows the Invincible Defense Technology could reduce war deaths and casualties by 70%.
Commander Fred Therrien, U.S. Navy (Ret.), observed that "the audience was totally engaged in Dr. Leffler's briefing."
After the presentation, attendees asked probing questions and wanted additional materials on IDT. The rest of the week Dr. Leffler met with military-related officials.
Dr. Leffler received a B.A. in elementary education in 1985 and an M.A. in the Science of Creative Intelligence in 1989. He is the executive director of the Center for Advanced Military Science (CAMS) at M.U.M.'s Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy.
He is a U.S. Air Force veteran and has a Ph.D. in Consciousness-Based Military Defense from The Union Institute & University. He publishes an online newsletter, Invincible Defense Technology News, and has also recently published articles in the Seoul Times, Arab News, Aljazeera Magazine, the Fiji Daily Post, Sentinel Review, and News From Bangladesh.
