The points from this talk are from a Convocation Address given by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to a degree-awarding ceremony at Maharishi European Research University in Switzerland.

This lecture is published in the first volume of four pocket-sized books for educators entitled Maharishi Speaks to Educators: Mastery over Natural Law.

Maharishi began his address by saying that it needed a scientific age to objectively evaluate different levels of consciousness. The seven states of consciousness brought to light by Maharishi over the last fifty years of his teaching around the world, 'are different levels of expression of the basic reality of life that is omnipresent, self-sufficient, the field of all possibilities', Maharishi said.

‘Human consciousness is capable of opening itself to the totality of this basic value of all creation,’ Maharishi continued. ‘Education should provide the knowledge and direct experience of the full potential of consciousness, the essential content of life.’

The development of consciousness through Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme is a unique phenomenon in the history of mankind, for through this knowledge it is possible to eliminate all weakness and suffering and to create an ideal society, Heaven on Earth, in all parts of the world.

Maharishi said that we are ‘creating an ideal society on the basis of our ability to enliven the full potential of Natural Law in our awareness, so that every thought and action is evolutionary and thereby by Natural Law. Through the unfoldment of the total potential in human awareness, the total potential of organizing power in man is enlivened.’

Maharishi then explained that 'the relative or changing aspect of Natural Law, which organizes the whole field of diversity in creation, is always available through the senses. As long as our awareness has not opened to the Transcendent, experienced during the Transcendental Meditation Programme, the source of all the relative aspects of Natural Law is not available.'

Through the Transcendental Meditation Programme the awareness opens to the unmanifest, eternal continuum of life, making available the total value of Natural Law in daily life.

Through Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique the awareness experiences pure consciousness. Through Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme one gains the habit of thinking from that level so that every thought and action is powerful, supported by Natural Law, and therefore fulfilled. This is life in enlightenment.

When these technologies of consciousness are introduced in education everywhere, educators and their students will rise to their full creative potential and produce a powerful influence of coherence and harmony in the collective consciousness of the nation.

Through this experience of pure consciousness and their ability to make Natural Law work for them, educators can soon create for the whole world a bright new sunshine of Heaven on Earth.
