Introducing Alumni from the Maharishi School in England
Part 3
Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment, England
16 January, 2008

Continuing our articles about graduates of the Maharishi School in England, we present five more alumni who continue to value their practice of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme long after they moved on to college or their chosen careers.

Virgil, 2002

Virgil Scott is currently in his final year studying Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, London.
In between studying he had work experience at TVR and Lotus Engineering. Last year he was Vice President of the Imperial College Mountaineering Club. Whilst raising money for the club and arranging climbing trips for its members, he also organised a rock climbing expedition to a remote mountain range in the Andes. He and four other Imperial students spent a month in Bolivia, climbing numerous mountain routes that had never been climbed before.

‘The Maharishi School was an awesome experience,’ said Virgil. ‘The teachers seemed more like friends than teachers, but they were also exceptional at teaching.’

Victoria, 2005

‘At the moment I’m doing Art Foundation at Winstanley (6th form) College after just finishing my A-Levels, with some very busy and hard work, but worth it.

‘Maharishi School has definitely been beneficial to my life, as it’s where I discovered my passion for art, in all forms. It’s also where I learnt how to make the best of everyone and every situation, I take that with me everywhere.’

Sarah, 2004

‘Being at the Maharishi School was a nice way to grow up. The students were friendly and the atmosphere relaxed, helping me achieve good grades at General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE).

‘I’m now studying for a diploma in Foundation Art at Winstanley College after completing 3 A levels at grade A, with a view to taking a degree in theatre design at university.’

Ben, 2003

‘The thing I liked best about being at the Maharishi School was the intimacy and friendliness of the classes. It was an excellent environment to learn, and probably teach in.’

Ben gained 3 A-levels in Maths, Economics, and Film Studies at Winstanley College in Lancshire, and is currently working at Uretek Ltd as a technician.

Phoebe, 1997

‘I feel privileged to have been a pupil at the Maharishi School. Being there helped me to conquer my shyness and become the confident person I am today. As a pupil at the Maharishi School, you benefit from the small classes where the teachers give you so much support and inspiration in your learning.

‘I am currently working for a company that runs art workshops in primary schools. One day I hope to become as good a teacher as those who taught me at the Maharishi School.’
