Published in his book, Maharishi Speaks to Students: Mastery over Natural Law, this talk by Maharishi introduces to students the fourth goal of the World Plan*: To solve the age-old problems of crime and all behaviour that brings unhappiness to the family of man.
‘Crime is the expression of weakness—the inability to fulfil desires,’ His Holinesss Maharishi Mahesh Yogi said, ‘And all mistakes, problems, and suffering arise from resistance to the force of evolution.’
Scientific research on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique indicates that, through proper education, it is possible to create a level of physiological functioning which will spontaneously support and maintain a higher state of consciousness. Established in this state of consciousness, an individual gains the ability to spontaneously perform right action.
The Science of Creative Intelligence brings the knowledge and experience of how unbounded pure intelligence rises in different aspects of the evolutionary process until the supreme level of evolution is reached.
‘Through Transcendental Meditation the awareness of the individual becomes permanently established in unbounded awareness, the home of all the Laws of Nature,’ Maharishi said. ‘This makes him capable of performing evolutionary action in accordance with the Laws of Nature. All the Laws of Nature are found functioning in the unmanifest, abstract level of life, experienced as Transcendental Consciousness [the Self of every individual, experienced during Transcendental Meditation].
Scientific research verifies that during Transcendental Meditation, brainwave synchrony increases. ‘This is the basis for orderly, precise thinking and effective action free from mistakes,’ Maharishi continued, ‘and opens the possibility for the creation of a new society where every man will be thinking in the right direction.
‘The ability to spontaneously move in the evolutionary direction has its basis in the infinite adaptability and infinite stability structured in the human nervous system.
‘The most basic crime against life lies in not developing one’s full potential. When desire for growth is obstructed, then inner fulfilment is overshadowed, and thought and action are not fully supported by the Laws of Nature,’ Maharishi said.
Maharishi continued to inspired students saying, ‘Restriction of the full expression of Creative Intelligence has always been the cause of all crime in society. Routine work is restrictive to the full expression of Creative Intelligence, which wants to expand to encompass infinity, [but] life will always be in routine; creation exists in routines.
‘With the practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique, one develops the ability to maintain unbounded awareness while behaving within boundaries—the infinite begins to be lived in every finite value.’
* World Plan: Over the three decades since 1974, the goals and activities of the World Plan have grown and evolved to become the programmes of the Global Country of World Peace, to create enlightenment for every individual and invincibility for every nation.
