This talk, given by Maharishi on 24 January 1980 was his inaugural address to the International Congress for Research on Higher States of Consciousness, in Bangkok, Thailand.
From Information Theory in Physics we know that knowledge has organizing power, and at the unmanifest basis of creation is the infinite organizing power of Nature, the totality of Natural Law, from where the whole creation is organized.
'The greatest achievement of our scientific age is the discovery of the field of pure knowledge, the discovery of the totality of the Veda,' Maharishi said.
Modern science has given us knowledge of the different specific Laws of Nature, and through Vedic Science the home of all the Laws of Nature is now available to direct experience.
The Transcendental Meditation Programme gives the experience of pure consciousness, the home of all the Laws of Nature. When the totality of Natural Law is lively in the awareness, the individual will be a fully developed individual, whose every thought and action is in accordance with all the Laws of Nature.
'Transcendental Consciousness [pure consciousness] is the seat of all the Laws of Nature that govern all manifest creation,' Maharishi said. 'This transcendental value of consciousness is lively within itself; from within itself it creates.
'When consciousness is fully open to itself, or self-referral, it is the state of pure knowledge, which is unbounded and infinite in its structure. In the state of pure consciousness, the observer and the observed are one. This is the state of absolute knowledge, where knowledge knows itself.
'In this self-referral state, consciousness is a self-sufficient field of all possibilities; it performs within itself and creates what it wants to create. The Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme stabilizes this field of all possibilities in consciousness.
'Veda is the structure of pure knowledge and speaks for the infinite organizing power of Nature. Every individual has to enliven the field of all possibilities in his own consciousness in order to become the master of Natural Law.'
Maharishi Vedic Science is the complete science of life, which allows the individual to open his awareness to the totality of creation, the home of all the Laws of Nature, the field of infinite creativity in the structure of pure knowledge.
'The hymns of the Veda are the indestructible, unmanifest field of life, which is the field of all the Laws of Nature governing the whole universe,' Maharishi continued. 'One whose awareness is established in this field lives evenness of life, life free from problems.'
So far, science has been dedicated to the field of objectivity. 'Now the observer, subjectivity, is becoming important; the ancient Vedic records direct us to make use of the infinite potential of the observer.
'Modern science speaks for the reality of objective existence. Vedic Science speaks for the fields of subjectivity and objectivity both together,' said Maharishi.
'In the past the infinite potential of life was considered to be a rarely attained higher state of consciousness, but now the time has come when the highest state of consciousness should be considered a normal human experience.
'The ultimate value of creation is the self-sufficient field that modern science has identified as the vacuum state [the Unified Field]. Vedic Science locates this field as the ground state of Natural Law, the infinite potential of life. When one's awareness is open to this state, one can create anything from within oneself and one enjoys total fulfilment.'
