Global Good News: Excellence in Action

On 12 January 1985, when talking* about establishing Maharishi Vedic University on all continents, Maharishi said that 'Veda is not a set of books. It is the Laws of Nature themselves, lively within the structure of the Unified Field. In its most highly developed state, human consciousness is capable of identifying itself with the Unified Field and discovering every impulse of the Veda, the Laws of Nature, residing within the Unified Field.

'All the academic disciplines are beginning to glimpse the reality of the Unified Field, which the Vedic Literature has described from time immemorial. Scholars from all the great universities of the world should come and study with the Vedic scholars, so that the knowledge arising in the modern disciplines can be illuminated by the supreme knowledge of the ancient Vedic Literature and so that the effectiveness of this ancient tradition will receive verification from modern scientific methods.'

Through the predominantly subjective approach of ancient Vedic Science, it is possible to directly experience, enliven, and apply the Unified Field to life—to verify through direct experience all the qualities of the Unified Field, which can only be inferred from the mathematical description of the Unified Field brought to light by modern science.

'All forms and phenomena in existence are known to be expressions of the Unified Field. Man has that unique status whereby he can directly appreciate the fundamental unity of Natural Law in his consciousness. This capability is the result of Unified Field-Based Education.

'Unified Field-Based Education [also known as Consciousness-Based Education] connects all knowledge with the Unified Field. Because all streams of knowledge are viewed in terms of the Unified Field—in terms of the Self—all knowledge becomes self-referral, relevant to the student.'

Through the Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field—the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme—the student's awareness becomes established in the Unified Field. The individual awakens to the most comprehensive and powerful levels of Natural Law and begins to function spontaneously in such a way that he derives maximum from all the Laws of Nature.

'We are very fortunate that there exists a complete knowledge of the Unified Field, the basis of the whole universe, Veda. Veda is that self-interacting field from where our thoughts, emotions, and our behaviour arise. This field, which is the totality of knowledge and its infinite organizing power, is nothing other than our own Self.

'Vedic Seers have actualized in great precision all the details of the self-interacting Unified Field within their own Transcendental Consciousness, and this subjective reality of the Unified Field is beautifully expressed in the different disciplines of modern science. This gives the world an opportunity to take full advantage of that basic reality which governs the universe with perfect orderliness. It is now possible to structure a new life, a new society, a new civilization.

'Unified Field-Based Education is an ideal system of education where not only the intellect will be fed and satisfied, but also the basis of the intellect, the field of pure intelligence, will be fully realized by everyone. Life will be based on the Unified Field, the lively field of all possibilities.

'The Unified Field sequentially progresses into the specific expressions of life. Due to this sequential progression of the Unified Field, the whole infinite diversity of the universe is created, maintained, and kept self-referral.

'Sequential development means that the wholeness is contained at every level of the development, just as the whole tree is found the seed and at every subsequent stage of growth. The Vedic Literature unfolds in the same way; therefore every course of study at every level will deliver the totality.

'Vedic Study will provide a thorough intellectual understanding of the Unified Field and the opportunity to verify this understanding within one's own consciousness.'
