An integrated system of education On 11th April, while at Mentmore Towers in Buckingham inaugurating Maharishi University of Natural Law, Maharishi spoke about the University and the holistic teaching to be offered there. He said that Maharishi University of Natural Law offers an integrated system of education that presents the knowledge of all disciplines along with the holistic value of knowledge—'the part in context of the whole at every stage of learning'. Maharishi explained, 'Knowledge is structured in consciousness. When consciousness is fully developed, one will enjoy the fruit of all knowledge—being at home with everything—without having to go through the detailed study of every discipline. 'The intellectual knowledge of specific Laws of Nature is not enough to make a man act in accordance with Natural Law. What is necessary is to develop that level of consciousness which will enable an individual to act spontaneously in accordance with all the Laws of Nature.' The Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme are systematic procedures to enliven the total potential of Natural Law in consciousness so that every impulse of consciousness is perfectly in tune with the total potential of Natural Law, and all thought and action are spontaneously supported by Natural Law. 'The teaching of Natural Law at Maharishi University of Natural Law will include both the development of the full potential of consciousness as the basis of acting spontaneously according to Natural Law, and intellectual understanding of how Nature organizes the infinite diversity of creation with such precision and orderliness,' Maharishi continued. 'The Natural Law that governs with perfect orderliness all the activity of the universe is enlivened in man's intelligence through Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme. This will result in mastery over Natural Law—natural behaviour in perfect alliance with the invincible power of Nature.' Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme enlivens the infinite dynamism in the silence of Transcendental Consciousness. 'From that eternal dynamism on the ground of eternal silence, the specific Laws of Nature emerge,' Maharishi continued. 'This experience verifies the understanding of modern physics that all the Laws of Nature emerge from the silent, unmanifest Unified Field. 'The experience of the functioning of consciousness from Vedic Science and the understanding of Nature's functioning from modern science provide complete knowledge, which will develop a complete man with all possibilities lively in his awareness.' The objective approach to gaining knowledge of Nature's functioning became predominant because consciousness was found to be always changing; therefore it was thought that subjectivity could not provide a reliable basis of gaining knowledge. 'This approach resulted from the ignorance of the non-changing level of consciousness, Unity Consciousness,' Maharishi explained. 'In order to understand the classical world of diversity and change we must understand the eternal non-changing quantum-mechanical level at the basis of all creation.' The practice of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme has revealed the practical utility of the quantum level of life, the ground state of Natural Law. The Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme cultures human awareness to functioning from the home of all the Laws of Nature, the Unified Field, enabling the individual to gain mastery over Natural Law. 'There are two aspects of Natural Law,' Maharishi continued. 'The positive creative aspect and the negative, destructive aspect. These two aspects functioning in perfect balance make Natural Law a field of all possibilities. 'The awareness that can uphold Natural Law in perfect balance is a field of all possibilities, awake to its own total potential. When this level of awareness functions within itself, it can create anything,' Maharishi said. 'Through any thought one gains the full support of Natural Law to accomplish any possibility of life.'
