In his series of books for educators, Maharishi Speaks to Educators: Mastery over Natural Law, a talk is published that was given by Maharishi on 5 March 1975, on Lake Lucerne, Switzerland.
‘Through the window of science,’—on the basis of the very positive results of scientific research on cities where 1% of the population practised Transcendental Meditation—Maharishi had inaugurated the Dawn of the Age of Enlightenment, which he later called ‘a time of all good for everyone, and non-good for no one.’
In this talk about education, he said that in the Age of Enlightenment all aspects of life will be ideal. An ideal educational system will develop the individual in such a way that he does not make mistakes.
‘If an individual is capable of functioning from the state of least excitation of consciousness, then every field of life will be enriched,’ Maharishi said. Scientific research has shown that through Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme all fields of life do become better.
‘Knowledge is structured in consciousness,’ Maharishi continued, ‘and knowledge is different in different states of consciousness. If consciousness is clear, one evaluates perception in an orderly, perfect way. If consciousness is incoherent, perception and action are weak.
‘Each state of consciousness has its own value of knowledge. To have all values of knowledge, the full potential of consciousness should be wide-awake. Unity Consciousness is the fully developed unified state of consciousness, in which all values of knowledge are available.’
Maharishi explained that an educated man should be a man of fully developed consciousness so that he has the fruit of all knowledge available to him at all times. ‘The fruit of all knowledge is the ability to feel at home with everything,’ he said. ‘Only if one’s awareness is open to the state of least excitation of consciousness, can one really feel at home with everything.’
Maharishi University of Management (known in 1975 as Maharishi International University) has developed an ideal system of education in which the student enjoys the fruit of all knowledge even while he is still studying the different disciplines. ‘On this basis gaining knowledge is a joy to every student,’ Maharishi said.
‘This system of education will keep enlightenment lively in society,’ he said. ‘On that basis progress will be free from resistance and problems. This will stabilize the Age of Enlightenment generation after generation.’
