Kundan Karna is a Chartered Accountant from Nepal working towards his MBA in Accounting at Maharishi University of Management. Kundan left his position of Accounting and Finance Manager at the National Insurance Corporation of Nepal in order to experience Consciousness-Based Education.
Kundan received his B.A. in Business Administration from Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 1997. He worked in accounting and auditing positions at several accounting firms in India while preparing for his Chartered Accountant exam, the equivalent of a CPA in the U.S. After receiving his certification, he returned to Nepal to head the internal auditing and accounting department of the largest insurance corporation in the country. At the same time, he became a Chartered Accountant in Nepal as well.
He was looking to further his education when he heard about MUM’s Accounting Professionals MBA Program from his friends and became intrigued by Maharishi Vedic Science being integrated into the curriculum. “Transcendental Meditation and Maharishi Vedic Science are so easily incorporated at MUM,” Kundan said. “This unique systematic approach really increases your intelligence and creativity.”
Kundan enrolled at MUM in January 2009 and after completing his on-campus courses he began his practical training at the Global Country of World Peace as Internal Auditor and Assistant Comptroller. He decided to forgo the opportunity of a high-paying metropolitan job for the peaceful environment and friendly community of Fairfield.
“Everyone is so calm here and there is a feeling of connection even with people I don’t know,” said Kundan. While managing all the accounting functions full-time, Kundan is completing the distance education portion of his degree.
