MUM Press recently published a new book titled Super Healthy Kids: A Parent’s Guide to Maharishi Ayurveda by Kumuda Reddy, M.D., and adjunct faculty Linda Egenes.
Linda Egenes holds master’s degrees from Maharishi University of Management in Higher Education Administration and in Professional Writing and has taught courses in the Education department and in the Professional Writing program. She has written over 400 articles on Maharishi Ayurveda and this is her third collaboration on the subject with Kumuda Reddy. Dr. Reddy is a practitioner of Maharishi Ayurveda Health Care in the United States and India. She is the author of eight books.
Ms. Egenes has been writing about Maharishi Ayurveda since 1986. “Maharishi Ayurveda has always been my passion,” she said. “I’m personally invested in these books and I love this knowledge.”
The book offers a mind-body integrative approach focusing on prevention. It includes chapters on increasing immunity, eliminating stress with the Transcendental Meditation technique, creating positive behavior, maintaining a balanced diet and healthy eating habits, and following a proper routine including exercise. The book also provides Maharishi Ayurveda recommendations for dealing with common childhood diseases.
“This knowledge of Maharishi Ayurveda for your child’s health is invaluable for preventing imbalances and promoting strength and happiness. Thanks to Reddy and Egenes for providing this comprehensive book for parents and health-care professionals,” said Chris Clark, M.D., author of Contemporary Ayurveda.
The book offers knowledge to both parents who are familiar with Maharishi Ayurveda and to parents who are new to it. Complementing her previous book, For a Blissful Baby: Healthy Happy Pregnancy through Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health, the new book covers children aged 1 through 14.
Ms. Egenes has also taught elementary school and she enjoys writing poems and creative non-fiction for children’s magazines such as Cricket. “Writing this book was especially fulfilling because it combined my interests in Maharishi Ayurveda and educating children,” she said.
