Maharishi University of Management professor Dr. Evan Finkelstein recently published an article titled “The Buddha’s Meditation” in the online magazine Elephantjournal. The article examines different popular Buddhist meditation techniques and their relation to various Buddhist scriptures in the light of Maharishi Vedic Science. The article points out that the Transcendental Meditation technique satisfies the requirement of an effective meditation mentioned in some of the Buddhist sutras because Transcendental Meditation makes effortless use of sound as a vehicle for transcending.
“Transcendental Meditation fulfills the highest goal of Buddhism—the achievement of full enlightenment—and does it in a completely effortless and natural way,” said Dr. Finkelstein. “This natural process of transcending to the state of Nirvana is written of in the Buddhist Shurangama Sutra.”
Professor Finkelstein, who received his PhD in Maharishi Vedic Science in 2005, has been teaching at MUM for 21 years. He teaches courses on Maharishi Vedic Science, religion, and ideal administration.
