At Maharishi University of Management, the popular MA in Maharishi Vedic Science will now also be offered via distance education beginning next February.
"We hope this distance-education format will bring Maharishi's knowledge to everyone on Earth to enhance their growth to higher states of consciousness," said Fred Travis, chair of the Maharishi Vedic Science department.
Four courses will be offered each year, so a student can take the 12 courses in the program in three years. Students can also take longer to complete the program if they wish.
Each course will extend over 10 weeks and will include about 11 hours of work each week.
The courses will include short videotapes from the professors explaining the topic of the week, video- and audiotapes from Maharishi, and readings from the Science of Being, Maharishi's translation and commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, Introduction to Maharishi Vedic University, and other texts by Maharishi. The courses will also include supplementary readings, learning activities (chat room text-based), webinar (video-based), and an assessment every other week.
Students will be asked to learn the Transcendental Meditation technique before beginning the program. They will also have their practice checked during the program and keep a journal of experiences.
