About half of Maharishi University of Management's new students are transfer students from other universities. Many state that they want a meaningful education without the stress and negativity experienced at other colleges, and others emphasize that they want self-exploration and inner growth as part of their educational experience.

Again this year an unusually large group of new undergraduate students arrived on the Maharishi University of Management (MUM) campus for spring semester -- 70, with 51 being transfer students.
As this issue of The Review goes to press, yet more students were expected to arrive, including as many as 50 Computer Professionals students coming this month. In addition, a number of students are expected to come from MUM's new partner institutions in China in March.
Brad Mylett, dean of admissions, said that spring enrollment usually includes a large percentage of transfer students.
"They tell us that they're looking for something more in their educational experience than their former school offered," he said. The University's focus on Consciousness-Based Education is a factor for many.
In terms of majors, Sustainable Living is the main draw, with 20 of the new arrivals indicating that as their intended major, and 16 indicating an interest in Physiology & Health or Pre-Medicine.
These 70 new undergrads represent nearly a 20% increase over last year's spring undergraduate enrollment.
Overall, total undergraduate enrollment at MUM continues to rise above 300, the first time in many years that this level has been reached. Total enrollment including graduate students is over 1,200.
"Undergraduate study is at the core of our mission as a university, so we're pleased that undergraduate enrollment has been increasing," said Craig Pearson, MUM executive vice-president.
