Many students from India to enroll in Maharishi University of Management Following a tour of Maharishi Vidya Mandir schools in eight cities in India by Bill and Leslee Goldstein, Maharishi University of Management, Fairfield, Iowa, USA, has received dozens of applications and is hoping to enroll 50 students from these schools this fall. Their enrollment is being facilitated by 50 scholarships supported by contributions from MUM Presidential Scholarships, the David Lynch Foundation, and the Howard and Alice Settle Foundation. According to Ms. Goldstein, the Maharishi schools are the largest private school system in India, with over 200,000 students. Many government officials enroll their children. "We were astounded by the magnitude of Maharishi's influence on the schools in India," Ms. Goldstein said. The scholarships are available to those students in the schools who have been instructed in the TM-Sidhi program. "Those who will be coming are committed to participating in group practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs in the Domes," Ms. Goldstein said. She said that the students in the schools have been involved in Consciousness-Based Education most of their lives and that the schools had a marked atmosphere of coherence, calmness, sweetness, and respect. "It was so moving to see the array of bright, shining faces," Ms. Goldstein said. Ms. Goldstein said that increasingly the parents of the children in the schools are in a position to send them abroad for their college education, and many are already now doing that.
