Alex Cequea and David Averbach are two of the MUM alumni who are the new owners of the iPhone Life magazine.
One of the new owners, Raphael Burns, redesigned the magazine's website and digital edition in order to make the magazine more appealing to younger people.
The founder and previous owner of iPhone Life, Hal Goldstein, sold the magazine because he wants to retire.

Three Maharishi University of Management alumni have recently taken the helm of iPhone Life, an international glossy magazine based in Fairfield with a readership of over 100,000.
David Averbach (BA in business 2007) and Alex Cequea (MBA 2010) had been hired by the magazine in the previous year and did so well that owner and publisher Hal Goldstein (MS Interdisciplinary Studies, 1974), who had been wanting to move toward retirement, decided that it was the perfect time to pass the baton.
He sold the magazine to his two highly capable employees, and to employee Raphael Burnes, with Mr. Averbach becoming publisher, Mr. Cequea taking over as editor, and Mr. Burnes continuing in his role as website developer.
The new owners then hired MUM grad Jaime Thatcher (BA in digital media 2008) as art director, and retained MIU grad Janet Joyce in advertising sales.
"They are exceptionally skilled and clear in their thinking and they work well together," said Mr. Goldstein about the new owners. "They have exceeded my expectations. They have a tremendous opportunity to make their mark and bring a younger perspective. They've already taken the magazine to a new level."
The magazine began in 2008 and covers the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
