Asher Fergusson left surfing the beaches of Sydney, Australia, to experience Consciousness-Based Education. He learned the Transcendental Meditation technique at the age of 10 and, even though he was offered a place at the best university in Australia, he wanted to study at MUM.
Asher majored in Maharishi Vedic Science and Physiology and Health, and graduated as class valedictorian in 2008. While in school, he joined the Maharishi Purusha program, and also spent one year on the Invincible America Assembly. “Transcendental Meditation is my solid base for all the ups and downs of life,” said Asher. “There will always be ups and downs and the difference is how you deal with them. TM has given me the inner strength to act in the world and achieve in the world.”
After graduating, Asher spent two years working in Holland and India for the International Transcendental Meditation program Movement. One of his major contributions was to create the Maharishi Channel on YouTube, which significantly increased viewership and generated new enrollment for MUM. Based on that success, Asher was asked to create a team to continue his work with many other websites such as TM.org and MUM.edu .
In 2010, he and his team moved back to Fairfield and founded Galaxy Ninja, a company that offers integrated Internet marketing strategies for businesses and organizations. Asher also began to pursue MUM’s MBA in Sustainable Business part time.
“Asher is such a brilliant, gentle soul,” said Ayako Huang, business administration instructor. “I have great respect for his generous nature. His academic excellence and powerful vision of spirituality make the class lively, engaging, and fun.”
Galaxy Ninja has helped several Fairfield companies improve their online marketing. “I want Galaxy Ninja to keep growing and hire more young people under 35,” said Asher. “I want to strengthen the local economy and bring more Yogic Flyers here.”
