In addition to winning the top award at the regional mediation tournament, a team of three Maharishi University of Management students earned the third place in the mediation category.

Third-year Maharishi University of Management student Donna Jones recently won the Top Mediator of the Tournament Award at a regional mediation competition among university students held in Dubuque, Iowa.
In addition, the three-member team of Ms. Jones, Neerja Maheshwari, and Ma Jie earned third place in the mediation category.
The students were in a course on mediation and negotiation taught by Vicki Alexander Herriott in October.
Participating in a second intercollegiate mediation tournament in Platteville, Wisconsin, were Ms. Jones, Eliana Freeman, America Manjarrez, and Rizo Saverio. Ms. Freeman came in third in the mediator category.
Twelve teams from University of Wisconsin, Platteville, Loras College, the University of Dubuque, Grace College, Lewis University, MUM, and Culver
Stockton College competed.
The entire class attended the 4th Annual World Mediation Congress in Des Moines, sponsored by the International Academy for Dispute Resolution.
The speakers at the two-day Congress were practicing lawyers from around the
U.S. sharing their experiences with arbitration, mediation, and collaborative law in the areas of family law, elder law, workers' compensation, and other areas of civil law.
The students participated in workshop sessions on topics such as mediation in family law, cultural differences in mediation, how to improve success
rate, and how to build a mediation practice.
All the students participated in a practice mediation tournament at the end of their MUM course.
