Gina Orange grew up in Fairfield and learned the Transcendental Meditation technique at the age of four. She became an avid reader of books on Maharishi Ayurveda early on, and her interest in the subject continued while attending Maharishi School and Maharishi University of Management (MUM). Gina majored in business to broaden her education, receiving her BA in 1999.
In 2001, Gina completed the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course and taught the Transcendental Meditation technique to at-risk youth in public schools through the David Lynch Foundation. She also developed Consciousness-Based education curriculum for Rajapark College in Thailand and the International Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education.
Gina’s interest in education came from her parents, Peter and JoAnne, who each have 30 years experience teaching in public schools. They also worked at Maharishi School from 1981 to 1991. While teaching the TM technique in schools, Gina often consulted with her parents about motivating students, becoming inspired to pursue a degree in education.
She returned to MUM and completed her MA in education in 2012. “Having a master’s degree in education is a valuable tool if you want to work in a school or if you want to be a TM teacher,” Gina said.
During her studies in education, Gina reconnected with her interest in Maharishi Ayurveda and created a health and wellness program for schools. She also worked with the Health and Physiology department and designed and co-taught a seminar on Ayurveda and weight management with Dr. Paul Morehead. Gina is currently training to become a certified Maharishi Ayurveda health consultant. She is also an enthusiastic practitioner of the Maharishi Yoga asanas and has taught the Maharishi Yoga Asana course multiple times.
Gina is now launching her own health and wellness website to educate individuals on improving their lives through Maharishi Ayurveda. Gina has always been a prolific writer and has written for TM.org and MAPI. She is currently working as a writer for Amrita Aromatherapy in Fairfield.
