The Maharishi School boys tennis team had another stellar year, making it to the final four of the state team competition for nine straight years—an all-time record in Iowa high school tennis.
The team finished third at state, while the team's top player, Sam Stickels, earned third place in the state singles competition.
Mr. Stickels was the only underclassman in the semifinals, with his competitors all being seniors. He defeated the #3 seed, and #4 seed to earn third place, losing only to the #2 seed in the tournament.
Other team members who competed at state were Raffi Gelfand, Solaris Nite, Surya Sawhney, Chandre Morales, Avery Mullenneaux, and Girindra Selleck.
The team made it to state by winning the district and substate tournaments.
