Maharishi University of Management’s Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy hosted a conference on April 20, titled “Our Conscious Future,” to discuss how the latest advances in mind, body, society, and the study of consciousness are converging to create new paradigms for humankind.

“This was a fantastic day of profound and transformational wisdom,” said Dr. John Hagelin, director of the Institute and professor of physics at MUM. “Truly world-class speakers united in a world-class event. It was quite a feather in our cap for our University, and enriching to the whole community. Everyone involved—Michael Sternfeld, DLF-TV, MUM, Maharishi Foundation, the speakers, the performers, the organizers, the sponsors—should really be commended and congratulated.”

Speakers included Father Gabriel Mejia, who has helped rescue over 100,000 disadvantaged children from the streets of Colombia since 1984 and has introduced the TM technique to over 12,000 children in the past twelve years. Father Gabriel shared that the success of his program is based on his philosophy of offering love and spirituality in his rehabilitation shelters.

Another distinguished guest speaker was Dr. Pamela Peeke, Discovery Health TV medical host, NIH medical researcher, and best-selling author. Dr. Peeke discussed the neurological basis of food addiction and her groundbreaking research on how the practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique can help people recover from these addictions.

“I enjoyed the Conscious Future conference very much,” said student Sonja Gobec. “I was writing my final paper that day so I came just for half an hour, but all the talks were so interesting that I stayed and listened to them all.”

Revolutionary mathematician and inventor Thomas McCabe explored the geometry of consciousness, starting with the math of how algorithms think and progress toward the math of how we think.

From our own community, John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist, science and public policy expert, and educator, explored the latest breakthroughs in quantum physics, consciousness, and our ability to manifest individual and collective desires. Pioneering researchers Dr. Keith Wallace and Dr. Fred Travis spoke on the brain signatures of high-performance individuals in “The Neurophysiology of Peak Performance.”

Sustainability bioneer Lonnie Gamble explored consciousness as the cornerstone of any true sustainability. Dr. Robert Schneider, physician and researcher in the field of integrative medicine, presented the latest findings on the power of the mind over DNA. Prudence Farrow Bruns, of the Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” fame, talked about her journey of becoming one of the first teachers of the Transcendental Meditation technique in 1968 in India.
