A week at the Brahmasthan of India with an opportunity to hear performances by a large group of Maharishi Vedic pandits was the highlight for many of the 25 participants on the six-week study-abroad course at Maharishi University of Management in January and February.
"Sitting in a room with 1,331 Pandits chanting made me feel as though I were riding on the waves of the Absolute," said student Krista Brisbane.
Other highlights included an audience with the Shankaracharya, a visit to the Maharishi Smarak being built to honor Maharishi, a visit to a Maharishi Vidya Mandir school with 2,000 students, four days in Rishikesh, four days at the beach, and time at a national tiger reserve.
Course leader Sue Brown said the group got to hear Maharishi pandits at a number of locations, including young pandits in training at the Shankaracharya's ashram.
During their visit to the Maharishi Vidya Mandir school, they enjoyed performances created by the students at the school, including dances and drumming. Plus, young Maharishi pandits also performed.
"It was very inspiring," Dr. Brown said. "We could see what Consciousness-Based education is doing for the young people of India, with the ancient and eternal represented by the young Pandits, together with the creative new generation of students at the school. It was wonderful."
