Maharishi University of Management is launching a new Master of Science in Maharishi AyurVeda and Integrative Medicine that will be offered online to health professionals as well as health educators with a background in the health sciences. The three-year, part-time curriculum is oriented towards doctors, nurses, medical students, and health coaches who want to add the burgeoning field of integrative medicine to their practices.
MUM has been teaching Maharishi AyurVeda for over 25 years. In addition to the undergraduate program in physiology and health, MUM has hosted continuing education courses for health professionals on campus. Further, adjunct faculty members Dr. Nancy Lonsdorf and Dr. Stuart Rothenberg have been teaching classes on Maharishi AyurVeda on various campuses around the country.
“This master’s program will give much more thorough knowledge of all the protocols used by Maharishi AyurVeda in dealing with different health conditions,” said Dr. Keith Wallace, co-director of the program. “It will give necessary confidence and expertise to health care providers.”
“I received most of my training in Maharishi AyurVeda at MUM in the '80s and ‘90s and have been successfully using it with my private practice patients for over 15 years,” said Jim Davis, OD. “The courses I've taken through the master's program greatly expanded on the training from those early days. They are much more comprehensive in scope and depth, with more emphasis on herbs and clinical protocols.”
Ayurveda has been gaining in popularity and more and more people are looking to alternative and complementary medicine. This program will help medical doctors and health care providers gain in-depth knowledge of Maharishi AyurVeda and also become familiar with other integrative health modalities.
“We are the first accredited university to offer a Master of Science in Maharishi AyurVeda and Integrative Medicine online,” said Professor Wallace.
The online program includes video lessons by MUM faculty, medical doctors, and Vaidyas (Ayurvedic experts), as well as regular webinars, discussion groups, and exercises. Once a year, participants will attend week-long intensive clinical training on the MUM campus.
Financial aid is available for the program. For more information visit www.mum.edu/physiology.
