Maharishi University of Management (MUM) student Daniel Pal was born in Hungary and holds a master’s degree in English and a Ph.D. in Indian philosophy. He learned the Transcendental Meditation technique at age 14 and after a brief career as a university professor, he wanted to participate in a coherence-creating group. In 2010, he spent five months working as a staff member for the Global Mother Divine Organization in Holland, and in 2012 he moved to Fairfield.

Daniel is now enrolled in the MA in Maharishi Vedic Science intern-track program. For his graduate assistant position, he works on curriculum development for the Physiology and Health department, where he is helping develop an online master’s program in Maharishi Ayurveda and integrative medicine to be launched in the fall of 2014.

Daniel has been educating himself in Ayurveda since 1990, and he was among the first writers to popularize Ayurveda in Hungary. He translated and edited numerous books and other materials on Maharishi’s knowledge, and wrote over 200 articles on natural health, Ayurveda, and Vedic wisdom.

“Sometimes I feel that I am in two master’s programs at the same time,” Daniel said. “Working on this curriculum was a huge boost to my knowledge of Maharishi Ayurveda.”

In addition to his graduate studies, Daniel is in charge of several projects in MUM’s Enlightened Leadership Program (ELP). He is helping to organize the first international ELP summit in Turkey, volunteering as a staff member alongside ELP director Adrienne Schoenfeld. He has also been recruiting global ambassadors for ELP, including the largest international group from Hungary.

To support the coherence-creating efforts in Hungary, Daniel is fundraising for a high school project in his hometown of Szeged, where 150 at-risk students are learning the Transcendental Meditation technique as part of the Quiet Time program. “Because it’s a school alliance of several schools, the program could be easily expanded to up to 4,000 students,” he said.

Daniel’s dream is to become a teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique. “I think the time is ripe for me now to take this major step in my life,” he said.

“Daniel is making an important contribution to our department by helping develop the curriculum for our new master’s program in Maharishi Ayurveda,” said Dr. Keith Wallace, chair of he Department of Physiology and Health. “He is a brilliant scholar, dedicated coworker, and a joy to be with. He is very committed to Maharishi’s knowledge and to this University.”
