Maharishi University of Management was recently selected for inclusion in The Princeton Review's Guide to 332 Green Colleges: 2014 Edition—a free, downloadable book.
This guide, published in partnership with the US Green Building Council's Center for Green Schools, focuses on saluting colleges that have demonstrated a strong commitment to the environment and to sustainability.
The guide can be downloaded at www.princetonreview.com/green-guide and also at www.centerforgreenschools.org/greenguide.
Schools were selected based on the "Green Rating" scores that were tallied in 2013 for 832 schools. The rating is based on data from an annual survey conducted among hundreds of school administrators about their school's environmental and sustainability-related policies, practices, and academic offerings.
The Princeton Review website emphasizes the advantages of going to a green school. One of the main advantage is that green programs can positively implact the quality of life of the students. It says, "Going green also improves your quality of life when it comes to dining." Maharishi University of Management is the first U.S. college to offer an organic, vegetarian, freshly prepared menu. Students find that they are healthier when they graduate than when they enroll.
The Princeton Review's Guide to Green Colleges mentions that Maharish University of Management plans to have 100% of electricity production needs met from renewable resources by 2017.
MUM was the first university in the U.S. to offer a degree in Sustainable Living. It offers a BA in Sustainable Living and an MBA in Sustainable Business.
