Krista Noble has always been an avid reader and began inventing her own stories as a young child. Her active imagination led her to begin writing her first fantasy novel at age 12. Since then she has written five. She and her sister were homeschooled on a farm in Maryland by their parents, who are both MUM alumni. The structure of homeschooling gave Krista independence to pursue her creative writing.

Krista received a degree in history from Hillsdale College in Michigan and continued writing. The study of history helped her build the worlds of her fantasy stories. In addition to writingfiction, she has written poetry and nonfiction articles which have been published in 10 national journals and magazines such asCountryside MagazineNew Age Journal, and Home Educator’s Family Times.

As a teenager, she read Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s translation of the Bhagavad Gita with her father, which inspired her to study Maharishi Vedic Science at MUM. She enrolled in the master’s program in 2012 and is now in her first year of the PhD program. “It felt natural to come to MUM; it was like coming home,” said Krista.

Krista has been practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique since childhood and finds that it has benefitted many aspects of her life including her creativity. “I will have spurts of inspiration after my program,” she said. “TM does seem to have a nice effect on breaking through stress and allowing creativity to come to the surface.”

“Krista is a clear, bright, well-rested student who brings a fresh and personal perspective to her scholarship,” said Thomas Egenes, professor of Maharishi Vedic Science. “She supports her teachers and fellow students, always uplifting everyone in the classroom.”

In addition to writing, Krista has many other interests. She has earned two black belts in Tae Kwon Do. She has also been pursuing photography since high school and recently had an exhibit at Gallery 56 in Fairfield.
