Tal Ron grew up in Hararit, a tiny village in the mountains of northern Israel where residents practice the Transcendental Meditation program. Tal has practiced the TM technique since early childhood and always dreamt of becoming a teacher of the Transcendental Meditation program and coming to Maharishi University of Management (MUM).
After high school Tal joined the Israeli Air Force and trained as an air traffic controller. During his initial three-month training, he was so committed to his daily TM program that he persuaded his commander to offer him the previously unheard of exception of a private room twice a day for his TM practice.
After serving four years in the Air Force, Tal attended college for one semester and then took the opportunity to become a teacher of the TM technique. He completed the course in September 2013 and started teaching in Israel. He also helped with marketing and social media for the Israeli Transcendental Meditation organization. Under the guidance of Joachim Claes he implemented a new website, which resulted in a three-fold increase in the number of people learning the TM program in Israel.
In 2014 Tal fulfilled his second dream when he enrolled at MUM with the help of a scholarship. Since he enjoyed doing marketing, he decided to major in business. “I struggled to fit in my TM program when I went to college in Israel,” he said. “Here I have the time, I get support for it, and I get credit for it. This is the way it should be, because consciousness is at the very basis of education.”
“I love doing things in the TM movement,” said Tal. “I am also happy to be a Global Ambassador of ELI (Enlightened Leadership International) and member of the MUM Enlightened Leadership Program core team.” For his ELI vision project, Tal joined the ShoPeace project, which was initiated by his fellow countryman and MUM student, Reuven Zelinkovsky, together with Raja Graham de Freitas and Raja John Fagan. Their goal is to create ongoing income for the Transcendental Meditation organization using an affiliate marketing site, where shoppers could purchase items from thousands of stores, and a percentage of their payment would go towards a specific peace-creating project of their choice.
“Our friends all over the world are using the internet every day to buy things and stores are happy to give commissions to websites that direct customers to them,” said Tal. “So in this model, everyone truly wins.”
